If you don't believe me, check the Amazon Reviews here! When half the appeal of using a manual typewriter is to connect with the past and own a piece of history, it's hard to see why you would want to purchase what is essentially a reproduction typewriter made in China. Users of this typewriter commonly complain of build quality issues, printing irregularities, or malfunctions altogether. These new typewriters are cheaply manufactured in various factories in China and are not built with the same quality as the original machines were. Although I am technically biased, in my honest opinion, you can purchase much nicer authentic manual typewriters for the same price, and sometimes cheaper. There are a few examples, however the most recent and 'popular' model is the "Royal Classic" which is in no way associated with the original Royal typewriter company and is made in China.

However, they probably aren't what you're looking for if you want something vintage and authentic. ​Typewriters, both manual and electric, are still made today. A word on "new" typewriters currently being sold online such as the 'Royal Classic/79101t'ġ. Demand for typewriters is high enough that Chinese companies have manufactured them to be sold in America, which leads me to the next point below. That good "Buy it Now" deal you saw newly listed a few minutes ago may be gone the next few minutes if you don't decide in time. You can see some extreme bidding wars on eBay over typewriters. On my personal quests to find typewriters, I have lost track of how many times I have asked an antique store owner or someone running a garage sale, "Do you have any typewriters for sale?" and they think for a second before informing me that they did a little while ago, but it sold. If you think that you're the only one crazy enough to want to buy a typewriter, you are most definitely wrong. People still enjoy using them and collecting them, and some even enjoy cleaning and repairing them to keep them typing (like us!)  Typewriters have made a comeback within the past few years.
